Basics of understanding the head Ratio in Designing a Chibi character.
Japanese style caricature where characters are drawn in an exaggerated way. Typically these characters are small and chubby, with stubby limbs and oversized heads to make them resemble children. This style of artwork, also known as Super Deformed (shortened to SD), commonly seen in anime (Japanese Cartoons) and manga (comics) works. Chibi can be translated as ‘little’. The formula for designing a successful chibi character is to construct it with a 2 – 2.5 head to height ratio, in relative proportion to the body.
